Kochen–Specker Theorem: Two Geometric Proofs

We present two geometric proofs for KochenSpecker’s theorem [S. Kochen, E. P. Specker: The problem of hidden variables in quantum mechanics, J. Math. Mech. 17 (1967), 5987]. A quite similar argument has been used by Cooke, Keane, Moran [R. Cooke, M. Keane, W. Moran: An elementary proof of Gleason’s theorem, Math. Proc. Camb. Phil. Soc. 98 (1985), 117128], and by Kalmbach in her book to derive G...

A Representation Theorem for Geometric Morphisms

It it shown that geometric morphisms between elementary toposes can be represented as certain adjunctions between the corresponding categories of locales. These adjunctions are characterized by (i) they preserve the order enrichment and the Sierpiński locale, and (ii) they satisfy Frobenius reciprocity.

Algebraic Representation, Elimination and Expansion in Automated Geometric Theorem Proving

Cayley algebra and bracket algebra are important approaches to invariant computing in projective and affine geometries, but there are some difficulties in doing algebraic computation. In this paper we show how the principle “breefs” – bracketoriented representation, elimination and expansion for factored and shortest results, can significantly simply algebraic computations. We present several t...

Visual Representation of Social Actors in ELT Nursery Rhymes

With the advent of globalization, especially in its third phase (see Robertson, 2003), global relations of domination have undermined abuse of power at national and local levels (Fairclough, 2001). Global ELT textbooks, as corollaries of the globalization process, are not immune to the embedment of discriminatory discourses, as various studies have shown (see for example, Gray, 2010, 2012; Baba...

The Representation of Structured Objects in DLs using Description Graphs

Applications of description logics (DLs) often require the representation of and reasoning with structured objects—that is, objects composed of parts connected in complex ways. Although DLs are general and powerful languages, they cannot describe arbitrarily connected structures. The description of structured objects in DLs can thus be underconstrained, which reduces the number of entailments a...
